I've recently had a haircut which gave me short side swept bangs and hair length slightly longer than the chin and layered and thinned,but somehow I feel ugly haha. The bangs ended at my cheekbones which stuck out and resulted in my face looking broader at the cheeks which is a no no. I used to have long hair before this and I felt prettier and my face longer. Long hair elongates the face,and try to keep it close to your face to hide the fullness of your face. You could try to add some height to your crown too to make your face appear longer too.

Is it safe for black women sporting short hair cuts to get their hair relaxed every two weeks?
For a woman wearing long hair, she gets her hair relaxed every 6-8 weeks. My friend tells me that every time she gets her hair done, (every two weeks), no matter who does it, she always gets it relaxed yet again. I fear that this may damage her hair completely. Any Black hair stylists out there??? Thanks!Is it safe for black women sporting short hair cuts to get their hair relaxed every two weeks?
She will be bald, burnt, and scabbed up in the next month or so if not sooner... That's just plain crazy.. It's bad enough to relax at all and risk damage..
6 - 8 weeks is the norm.. but every 2 weeks... i'm laughing.. Her stylist has her fooled into taking all her money.. it costs so much more to relax than to just wash/blow/curl.. She must be forking over 60 - 80 every 2 weeks..
The relaxer/touchup is for getting the new growth straight.. what new growth can she POSSIBLY have in 2 weeks.. Hair does not even grow that fast that she has new hair in 2 weeks that needs to be relaxed..

For a round face either go with a longer, somewhat layered cut like Sophia Bush's current cut on One Tree Hill or a shorter, chin-length bob like Kristen Cavallari's with some side bangs to soften it. I've heard nothing above the lower lip and perferably it should be below the chin. Sorry. You can try an above chin cut but I know personally my face would look like moon pie. I don't recommend it. Compromise with a cut slightly below the chin. I want an edgy cut too but I know I need hair around my face to make it leaner so I'm considering one of two things
1. A short cut with long bangs around face
2. An asymetrical cut where one side is above the chin and one is lower.

Never do a middle part. Side parts are best for our face shape. Bangs can be done but not the blunt kind that go across the forehead but rather side bangs. Basically any uneven choppy look with layers.

Keeping the hair close to the face slims it. Shag hair cuts are cute. Make sure you do not part your hair down the middle. Part on either side. Good luck.

I just cut my hair last summer in Las Vegas into a short do. It was up to my jawline and layered and had a feel cute and punky look, the change I needed for starting college. Now, a year later, its grown all back and my hair stylists is a couple thousand miles away. I need a hair cut but I dont want to break the bank ( I live in New York City now) nor do I want a do that makes me want to hide from the public. Okay, seeing as how I just came from BCT (Basic Combat Training... call it boot camp? get dropped)...
Female haircuts will conform to the following standards:
Females will ensure their hair is neatly groomed, that the length and bulk of the hair are not excessive, and that the hair does not present a ragged, unkempt, or extreme appearance. Likewise, trendy styles that result in shaved portions of the scalp (other than the neckline) or designs cut into the hair are prohibited. Females may wear braids and cornrows as long as the braided style is conservative, the braids and cornrows lie snugly on the head, and any hairholding devices comply with the standards below. Dreadlocks (unkempt, twisted, matted individual parts of hair) are prohibited in uniform or in civilian clothes on duty. Hair will not fall over the eyebrows or extend below the bottom edge of the collar at any time during normal activity or when standing in formation. Long hair that falls naturally below the bottom edge of the collar, to include braids, will be neatly and inconspicuously fastened or pinned, so no free-hanging hair is visible. This includes styles worn with the physical fitness uniform/improved physical fitness uniform (PFU/IPFU).
Styles that are lopsided or distinctly unbalanced are prohibited. Ponytails, pigtails, or braids that are not secured to the head (allowing hair to hang freely), widely spaced individual hanging locks, and other extreme styles that protrude from the head are prohibited. I cut my hair before basic, very very short. It was more of a hassle because we were made to slick it straight back. I would recommend NOT CUTTING your hair, but that is your cross to bear.
Good luck. Basic is EASY. Remember that it is a mind game and that you CAN do it. TRADOC (training environments) will piss you off, but keep in mind that the operational Army is not that way.

CS, blowing up Bambi’s dad with a claymore, first aid and how a bandoleer can hold things in place, chow, KP, pots and pans, having the Range Officer screaming cease fire while some idiot is firing on a civilian aircraft ( it was not me ), same thing except it was a yacht in no mans land behind the dunes in Monterey Bay, the guy that got hungry and ate poison ivy, wild pigs in bivouac area, being choked out for not saluting the aggressors flag in escape and evasion......AND WE ALL LIVED, SO WILL YOU!!!

This We’ll Defend
Getting your hair cut in boot camp serves at least two purposes.
One is that not everybody is into personal hygiene. Unless you want to sleep in hair clippings and itch for a few days, you're going to at least wash you hair after the haircut.
The second reason is that hair can be a statement of individuality. Recruit training is designed to get a bunch of self-centered individuals to think and act like a team. One obvious way is to remove as much of their individuality as possible. So you look the same, dress the same, act the same, follow orders the same, speak the same language, and, in many cases, think the same. Even your name will change. It won't be Suzie Smith from Somewhere, Wisconsin. It'll be ';Recruit Smith.... SIR!!!'; (or ';MA'AM'; as the case may be).
There are other reasons too. Safety is one of them. Long hair can get into equipment. In some cases that's a mere inconvenience, but in some cases your head might be pulled into the equipment and you can be killed. The goal in recruit training is not to kill you.
You probably will avoid the ';boy's'; buzz cut, if that's what you're worried about. But you will have to adhere to regulations. That's another of the things haircuts enforce. Regulations vary slightly from branch to branch. The Navy has it's Uniform Regs. I'm sure the Army has it's version, and the Marines, and the Air Force.

Everything in recruit training has a reason. People with at least minimal intellect can figure it out... although sometimes not until it's over and you have time to think about it. But it seems a few people lack that minimal intellect and just gripe and moan about the terrible treatment they are forced to endure.
I'd suggest you not waste money on a haircut before you go. More than likely they'll cut it anyway.
it can touch your ears if your a female. it just cant touch the bottom of your collar in uniform. and it cant be a stylish hair do. simple as that.
the No touching your ear thing only applies to males.
If your hair is currently long enough to get into a bun, leave it long. If it is too short then of course it can touch your ears, it just cant touch your collar of your uniforms.
Navy? If they don't think it's short enough they'll cut it again for you, happened to me. It has to be above your collar. So any styles above your collar is fine, just don't go bald, haha.

If it is yellow and dry it is cake. Just stick it in a glass of milk, it will be fine.
If it is brown and poured over rice it is chili.....maybe...could be gravy made from left over bacon grease.

Getting your hair cut in boot camp serves at least two purposes.
One is that not everybody is into personal hygiene. Unless you want to sleep in hair clippings and itch for a few days, you're going to at least wash you hair after the haircut.
The second reason is that hair can be a statement of individuality. Recruit training is designed to get a bunch of self-centered individuals to think and act like a team. One obvious way is to remove as much of their individuality as possible. So you look the same, dress the same, act the same, follow orders the same, speak the same language, and, in many cases, think the same. Even your name will change. It won't be Suzie Smith from Somewhere, Wisconsin. It'll be ';Recruit Smith.... SIR!!!'; (or ';MA'AM'; as the case may be).
There are other reasons too. Safety is one of them. Long hair can get into equipment. In some cases that's a mere inconvenience, but in some cases your head might be pulled into the equipment and you can be killed. The goal in recruit training is not to kill you.
You probably will avoid the ';boy's'; buzz cut, if that's what you're worried about. But you will have to adhere to regulations. That's another of the things haircuts enforce. Regulations vary slightly from branch to branch. The Navy has it's Uniform Regs. I'm sure the Army has it's version, and the Marines, and the Air Force.

Everything in recruit training has a reason. People with at least minimal intellect can figure it out... although sometimes not until it's over and you have time to think about it. But it seems a few people lack that minimal intellect and just gripe and moan about the terrible treatment they are forced to endure.
I'd suggest you not waste money on a haircut before you go. More than likely they'll cut it anyway.
it can touch your ears if your a female. it just cant touch the bottom of your collar in uniform. and it cant be a stylish hair do. simple as that.
the No touching your ear thing only applies to males.
If your hair is currently long enough to get into a bun, leave it long. If it is too short then of course it can touch your ears, it just cant touch your collar of your uniforms.
Navy? If they don't think it's short enough they'll cut it again for you, happened to me. It has to be above your collar. So any styles above your collar is fine, just don't go bald, haha.
