Short hair cuts on men?

Does short hair look good on most men? I'm wanting to change my hair style, but I'm a little paranoid. I'm just worried that short hair wont look good with the size or shape of my head.Short hair cuts on men?

A regular taper cut or one of the short pomp styles-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- can be adapted to suit most guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features. Start with a taper cut. If you still want to go shorter, try an ivy league. Shorter still, a crew cut. There is a big difference between a the short pomp cuts which are graduated in length on the top of the head to form the short pomp front and therefore do not conform perfectly to the skull shape, and a butch cut which perfectly conforms to the skull shape on the top of the head. A barber can adapt one of the short pomp cuts to bring the outline of the skull shape into harmony with the frontal hairline and face shape. This is not possible with a butch cut. Back when more than every other college and college prep high school guy including almost all college and high school athletes wore a short buzzed style, it was almost exclusively crew cuts, flat top crew cuts and ivy leagues. Butches were mostly given at home to boys twelve and younger. Guys didn't wear these styles only for convenience but also because when well cut, they can highly complement most guys. This answer explains the basic short cuts. The first two links contained therein are quite informative:

Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side if so desired. An ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form the short pomp front or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut

[A crew cut is a timeless prep haircut, the photo directly above is from 1946, and yet if the photo was in color, both the guy and the clothes he is wearing could be in the latest J Crew catalog. ]

ultra short crew cut:

[Around 5/8';(#5) at the front hairline, graduated to about 1/4';(#2)at the back of the crown. Back and sides are tapered from around #0A length (1.2mm)down to #000 length(0.5mm) at the ears and nape.]

Grooming any of the short pomp styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same.

1) Towel dry hair.

2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.

3)Transfer wax to palms.

4) Smooth palms over hair.

5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.

Whichever style you decide on, take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber or stylist.

Good Luck!
I think short hair looks good, but NOT short short - like crew cut short? No No No. Shortish is good.
